It was almost too easy for the Mustangs this season.

A clean 24-0 sweep recently granted the varsity boys baseball team a No. 3 national ranking after Friendswood snatched its latest win against Texas City 8-1.

"Mustangs conclude 22-5A play as outright undefeated district champions at 16-0 and improve to 24-0 on the season," reporter Chris Walter tweeted this week.

The Mustangs leapt into the third ranking after IMG Academy wrapped up its season and closed up its rank. Friendswood nipped at the heels of second-ranking St. Mary Prep from Orchard Lake, Michigan, a titan of team that's gone undefeated in its district and boasts current leadership in streaks and player of the week.

This week, Friendswood narrowly defeated Sterling 3-2 and stomped Santa Fe 5-1and buttoned up their season 24-0 overall and 16-0 in the district.

Friendswood is ranked sixth in Texas, third in Texas Division 5A and first in Region III, boasting a 181 power factor.

Collin Cowie of Friendswood recently signed on to join the Saints in San Antonio at Our Lady of the Lake University.
