Friendswood High School's (FHS) Collin Cowie has a lot to look forward to after he graduates from FHS this spring.
The right-handed pitcher announced commitment to Our Lady of the Lake University baseball where his mid-80 mph pitches are expected to continue his dominance of the strike zone.
"Medium, compact frame with athletic look and some present lower half strength. Primary right-handed pitcher with quick paced delivery, drop and drive lower half mechanics and a high three-quarters arm slot," Cowie's scouting profile reads.
Cowie emerges out of FHS with a level eight pitching grade and a razor-sharp strikeout focus, a high three-quarter arm slot and honed mechanics throughout.
"Flashed shorter breaking ball that varied between slider and cutter action, disrupting timing when thrown with conviction," the scouting profile reads. "Tough competitor with present arm speed that will improve with refinements of mechanics and simplification of delivery. Good student."
This Preseason All American boasts a 7.39 second 60-yard dash, a 1.63 second 1-yard split and 87 mph in highest recorded FB velo.
"[I am] blessed to announce I will be continuing my academic and baseball career at OLLU baseball," Cowie wrote in a tweet last week about his signing to San Antonio. "I'd like to thank my parents and all the coaches who have helped me along the way."
