The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the HUD Transparency Act, a bill introduced by Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz of Texas’ 15th district. The legislation requires the Inspector General at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide annual testimony before Congress about measures taken to identify and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse within the department.

During remarks on the House floor, De La Cruz urged her colleagues to support the measure. "Today, the House took a critical step toward rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse to ensure HUD's housing programs are serving all Americans. Improving accountability and protecting American taxpayer dollars will always be a top priority. I look forward to Senate passage and sending this bill to President Trump's desk for his signature," said Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz.

De La Cruz has been representing Texas' 15th district in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. She won her seat by defeating Michelle Vallejo in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
