Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Theresa Chang and Karen Partee to the Texas Commission on the Arts. Their new terms will run until August 31, 2031. The Commission works to support the arts in Texas, aiming to enrich residents' lives and attract artists to the state.
Theresa Chang, based in Houston, is an attorney in Harris County. She previously served as Judge of Harris County Civil Court #2. Chang is involved with several organizations, including the State Bar of Texas and Law Focused Education, Inc., where she serves on boards. Her past roles include serving on the University of Houston Board of Regents and the Asian American Bar Association of Houston Board of Directors. She also participates in various cultural organizations such as the Houston Grand Opera Underwriters and Asia Society of Texas Board of Directors. Chang holds a Bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University, a Master’s from Texas A&M University Kingsville, and a law degree from South Texas College of Law.
Karen Partee, from McKinney, is executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Texas Bank and Trust Company. Since January 2024, she has chaired the Texas Commission on the Arts. Partee is certified by the Institute of Certified Bankers and serves on boards for both the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing and its Certified Financial Marketing Professionals program. She is also active with the Texas Tech Alumni Association and has held leadership positions in local arts groups such as the Longview Museum of Fine Arts Advisory Board. Partee earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas Tech University.
