Governor Greg Abbott has appointed James H.C. “Jamey” Steen to the Texas Historical Commission, with a term ending on February 1, 2027. The Texas Historical Commission is responsible for leading and coordinating services that support projects by county historical commissions, historical societies, agencies, and institutions focused on preserving the state’s archeological and historical heritage. The commission also serves as a clearinghouse and information center for historical matters.

James H.C. “Jamey” Steen is based in Houston and works as a partner at Buckhorn Resources, L.P. He holds life memberships in several organizations including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Mensa, Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, and the Texas Land & Mineral Owners Association. Steen is an Eagle Scout and participates in the Sons of the Republic of Texas - William Barret Travis Chapter No. 7. He also serves as a trustee for the San Jacinto Museum and Battlefield Association. Steen earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
