Governor Greg Abbott administered the New Lawyer Oath to Texas veterans who recently passed the bar exam at a ceremony held at the Governor's Mansion. The event took place on November 11, 2025.
"All of us owe an extraordinary debt of gratitude for everybody who served," said Governor Abbott. "Without our military might, we wouldn't have the economic might and freedom that we have today. Thank you for your service, and congratulations to you all for passing the bar exam.”
During the ceremony, Governor Abbott officially swore in veterans to the State Bar of Texas after they completed their required legal education. He acknowledged their commitment both in military service and as new members of Texas’s legal community. The Governor also referenced programs such as Operation Welcome Home and Hiring Red, White and You!, which are designed to help veterans transition into civilian careers.
Former Supreme Court of Texas Justice Craig Enoch, University of Texas School of Law Dean Robert Chesney, and Haynes Boone Associate Alexander Clark were present at the event.
Additional photos from the ceremony will be made available when possible.
