Houston Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund Board of Trustees met Sept. 16.

A regular meeting of the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund (HFRRF) Board of Trustees convened at the Fund offices at 4225 Interwood North Parkway, Houston, Texas 77032 on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:05 a.m.
Trustees present were Brett R. Besselman (Chair), David O. Lantrip (Vice Chair), Lisa R. Slagle (Secretary), Gerard L. Daniels, Pete Ng, David Riegor, Arif Rasheed, and Albertino Mays. Also present were staff members Adam E. Smith (Executive Director/General Counsel), Ajit Singh (Chief Investment Officer), Claudia McInnis (Director of Finance and Administration), Dalia Banuelos (Director of Member Services), and Andrea Sharayha (Director of Human Resources).
The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m.
The Board recited the Pledge of Allegiance and observed a moment of silence.
There was a motion by Albertino Mays, seconded by Pete Ng, to approve the following items listed on the consent agenda:
A. Approval of the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
B. Approval of the minutes of the Pension Benefits Committee meeting held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
C. Approval of the minutes of the Personnel and Procedures Committee meeting held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
D. Approval of the minutes of the Investment Committee meeting held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The motion carried.
There was a motion by Lisa R. Slagle, seconded by Albertino Mays, to approve the Chief Investment Officer’s travel outside the 48 contiguous United States to attend the 2025 Private Equity Summit with airfare, and three (3) nights of hotel accommodation to be paid by a third party.
There was a motion by David Riegor, seconded by David O. Lantrip, to resolve that Tuesday, December 9, 2025, be designated as the date of the regular Board meeting for the month of December 2025. The motion carried.
The General Counsel provided an update on the declaratory judgment lawsuit relating to informal marriage.
The meeting adjourned at 10:11 a.m. on a motion by David O. Lantrip, seconded by Lisa R. Slagle. The motion carried.
