Katherine McDaniel has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve as judge of the 498th Judicial District Court in Kendall County. Her term will last until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.
McDaniel currently holds the position of first assistant district attorney for the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. She also serves on the Texas Violent Gang Task Force at the request of the governor. In addition, she is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association Journal Editorial Board, State Bar of Texas, Kendall County Bar Association, Texas Bar College, and the Texas Prosecutors’ Society.
Her community involvement includes serving as a steering committee member for the Kendall County Behavioral Health Advisory Coalition and as secretary of the board of directors for the Boerne Police Foundation. She is also active with TMI School Community Engagement Council as sports banquet chair and has given presentations across the country on search and seizure law.
McDaniel earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin and her Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
