Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent more emergency management personnel to Arizona to assist with flood recovery efforts. The deployment follows a request from Arizona’s Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.

"Texans are no strangers to the devastating effects caused by severe weather," said Governor Abbott. "Today, I directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to deploy additional personnel to further support Arizona as they rebuild and recover from recent flooding. Texas will continue to assist our fellow Americans in their time of need."

Under Governor Abbott’s direction, the Texas Division of Emergency Management has sent staff specializing in logistics, planning, and disaster finance. These personnel will support operations at Arizona’s Emergency Operations Center and participate in field activities related to flood response and recovery.

This new deployment builds on previous assistance provided by Texas last week for Arizona’s flood recovery efforts.

The operation is organized through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), which allows states to help each other during disasters by sharing resources, ensuring protection for deployed personnel, and arranging reimbursement for mission-related expenses. More details about EMAC can be found at https://www.emacweb.org/.

The current support comes as Texas continues its own response and recovery activities after flooding that occurred across the state in July.
