During the ongoing government shutdown, Representative Dan Crenshaw has announced that his offices in Texas and Washington, D.C. will remain fully operational. Crenshaw emphasized that constituents can continue to rely on his staff for assistance with federal agencies, veterans services, passport and immigration inquiries, student aid issues, and emergency questions.

“We’re still opening and managing casework for Social Security, the VA, Medicare, the IRS, and other agencies. Some departments are slowed by furloughs, but we’ll stay on your case and push for updates as soon as systems come back online,” said Crenshaw. He noted that while responses from some agencies may be delayed due to backlogs during the shutdown, his office can still submit inquiries to be addressed once normal operations resume.

For veterans experiencing issues with benefits or accessing care, Crenshaw stated: “If you’re having issues with benefits, claims, or accessing care, we can advocate on your behalf and track your case.” He also highlighted continued support for those facing delays with passports or immigration matters: “Most passport and immigration services are still running. If you’re facing delays or need guidance, we can help you navigate the process.”

Regarding student aid programs such as federal loans and Pell Grants: “Federal student loans and Pell Grants are still being processed. If something goes wrong, we can help get answers,” he said.

Crenshaw reassured residents about certain federal services that remain unaffected by the shutdown. These include mail delivery through the U.S. Postal Service; open VA medical centers; continued Social Security and Medicare payments (though some new applications may be delayed); ongoing air travel security operations; active military duties (with possible pay delays); FEMA’s disaster relief work; most USCIS immigration services; and processing of student loans and Pell Grants.

“If you are experiencing an issue with a federal agency or need help understanding what the shutdown means for you or your family, please contact my office directly,” Crenshaw urged.

Dan Crenshaw has represented Texas’ Second Congressional District since 2018. In recent elections he secured victories over Todd Litton in 2018 (52.8% to 45.6%), Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 (55.6% to 42.8%), Robin Fulford in 2022 (65.9% to 34%), and Peter Filler in 2024 (65.7% to 34.3%).
