Governor Abbott announces appointments to Gulf Coast Authority Board

Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Amber Batson and appointed Dan Syphrett to the Gulf Coast Authority Board of Directors. Batson's term will expire on August 31, 2027, while Syphrett's term is set to end on August 31, 2026. The Gulf Coast Authority oversees water systems and is responsible for managing water pollution and waste disposal within its district. The authority also conducts studies and research related to these areas.

Amber Batson, from Tomball, works as a Project Manager and Associate Vice President at Carollo Engineers. She holds corporate memberships in the Texas Water Association, the American Public Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation. Batson is licensed as a professional engineer by both the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.

Dan Syphrett, from Stowell, is retired after working as an electric utility manager. He serves on the East Chambers Education Foundation Gala committee and participates in the St. Louis Church Rice Ball Committee. Syphrett graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University.

"The Gulf Coast Authority has the authority to provide water systems and control water pollution and waste disposal within the district. In addition, they shall conduct studies and research on the control of water pollution and waste disposal within the district," according to Governor Abbott's office.
