Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Randall Wright to the Texas Pharmaceutical Initiative Governing Board, with a term ending on February 1, 2029. The board is responsible for creating a business plan to offer cost-effective drugs and other medical supplies for public employees.

Randall Wright, based in Houston, retired after 46 years in healthcare. His previous roles include executive vice president and chief operating officer of Texas Children’s Hospital, as well as senior vice president at Houston Methodist Hospital. He has been involved with the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Wright also serves on the Board of Visitors for MD Anderson Cancer Center and is vice chairman of the Eastern Illinois University Foundation board. Additionally, he volunteers with Baker Ripley Houston.

Wright holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University.

Governor Abbott stated: “I am confident that Mr. Wright’s extensive experience in healthcare administration will help advance our goal to make medications more affordable for Texas public employees.”
