Governor Greg Abbott addressed the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce at its "State of the State" luncheon, highlighting legislative achievements from the 89th Legislature.

"Together, we are shaping the Texas economy as the best state for business development, job opportunities, and exports," said Governor Abbott. “We will continue to remove the red tape and take strategic steps to remain the No. 1 state for doing business. Thank you to the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, small business owners, and the countless innovators who keep Texas tough and resilient."

Abbott was joined at the event by several local and state officials, including Representative David Cook, Representative Pat Curry, Representative Angelia Orr, McLennan County Judge Scott Felton, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara, and Waco Mayor Jim Holmes.

During his remarks, Abbott discussed efforts to strengthen economic growth across Texas. He recognized Waco's role in contributing to Texas' economic strength and emphasized ongoing plans to support small businesses in the state.

The Governor also outlined progress on key issues addressed during the recent legislative session. He noted that new laws have reduced regulatory barriers, cut property taxes, improved the electric grid’s reliability, and expanded school choice options for families.

At the close of his speech, Abbott committed to advocating for child safety in Texas and expressed anticipation for signing new camp safety legislation into law.
