The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the deadline for Texans affected by flooding over the Fourth of July weekend to apply for Individual Assistance. The extension, announced by Governor Greg Abbott, gives residents in eligible counties until September 28 to submit claims and report damages.

"Texas continues to rebuild and recover in the communities impacted by catastrophic floods over the Fourth of July weekend," said Governor Abbott. "Together, with our federal partners, we will ensure that all Texans who qualify for financial assistance have ample time to apply. I thank FEMA for extending the Individual Assistance registration period to September 28th for Texans who continue to heal from this devastating tragedy."

Residents in Burnet, Guadalupe, Kerr, Kimble, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties may be eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. This program offers financial support for disaster-related expenses.

Texans can apply online at https://www.disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362. Disaster Recovery Centers are also available for those seeking more information or help with applications. Local officials have opened outreach centers with support from state agencies and non-profit organizations.

Governor Abbott has continued efforts to provide resources and support throughout the flood response and recovery process. These actions include presenting relief checks alongside charitable organizations such as the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund; announcing over $40 million in long-term relief funding with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country; securing federal disaster declarations and additional benefits for impacted counties; updating state disaster declarations; visiting affected areas; launching emotional support lines; and providing updates on ongoing operations.
