Governor Greg Abbott participated in a check presentation event for families affected by the recent Hill Country floods. The funds distributed come from the “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert, which was held last month and raised over $6 million to support those impacted by the disaster. The concert was hosted by musician George Strait and Estancia Estates Founder Tom Cusick.

During the event, Governor Abbott emphasized the commitment to helping residents recover. “No one here is going to leave empty-handed to begin the process of rebuilding,” said Governor Abbott. “All of us are working together to ensure that we are building homes and rebuilding businesses at record pace. Our goal is to help you rebuild your lives as quickly as possible.”

This marks the second time Governor Abbott has attended such an event to distribute relief funds directly to families whose primary residences were damaged or destroyed in the floods.

Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd and State Representative Wes Virdell joined Governor Abbott at the presentation.

The funds provided aim to help families start rebuilding their homes and lives after significant losses caused by severe flooding in the region.

Additional photos from the event will be made available when ready.
