Governor Greg Abbott announced that more than $40 million will be provided for long-term housing relief in Kerrville following the July 4th floods. The funding effort is a collaboration with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

"I have never seen a community or foundation respond faster at getting the resources donated to the people who need it the most," said Governor Abbott. “Today, with this announcement, $40 million is going to go directly to help people actually get back into their homes. We have so many generous people here in the state of Texas who have supported that effort. Thank you to everyone involved in the process of making sure that this community receives these funds and gets back into their homes as quickly as possible."

The Governor made his remarks alongside Austin Dickson, CEO of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, Hunt Independent School District Superintendent Luci Harmon, and several federal, state, and local officials. Business leaders and nonprofit representatives were also present.

Funding will be distributed based on geographic needs assessments and disaster data from state and federal sources. Residents needing housing support are encouraged to fill out a needs assessment form at RebuildKerr.org.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country provides support for nonprofits, schools, and local initiatives through grants and partnerships aimed at improving life for families in the region.
