Governor Abbott renews border security disaster declaration for multiple Texas counties

Governor Greg Abbott has renewed the disaster proclamation concerning border security for several Texas counties and state agencies. The original proclamation was issued on May 31, 2021, under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code, in response to a surge of individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border.

The Governor previously amended this proclamation through several subsequent proclamations, modifying the list of affected counties and reaffirming the state of disaster for those areas and relevant state agencies. According to Abbott, "the certified conditions continue to exist and pose an ongoing and imminent threat of disaster as set forth in the prior proclamations."

By renewing this order, Governor Abbott declares a continued disaster for a wide range of counties including Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Brewster, Brooks, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Coleman, Colorado, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, El Paso, Frio, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Hidalgo, Hudspeth, Jackson, Jeff Davis, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kenedy, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney,Kleberg ,La Salle,Lavaca ,Live Oak,Mason ,Matagorda ,Maverick ,McCulloch ,McLennan ,McMullen ,Medina ,Menard ,Midland,Pecos ,Presidio ,Real ,Refugio ,San Jacinto ,San Patricio ,Schleicher ,Shackelford ,Starr,Sutton ,Terrell Throckmorton,Upton,Uvalde Val Verde Victoria Webb Wharton Wilbarger Wilson,Zapata,and Zavala.

Abbott stated: "All orders,directions,suspensions,and authorizations provided in the Proclamation of May 31 2021 as amended and renewed in subsequent proclamations are in full force and effect."

Copies of this renewed proclamation will be filed with applicable authorities as required by law.
