Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the next Governor’s Small Business Summit will take place in Big Lake on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The summit is part of a series held throughout Texas each year to support small business owners and entrepreneurs by providing access to resources and information necessary for starting and growing businesses.

“Small businesses are the cornerstone of our vibrant communities and the driving force behind Texas’ thriving economy,” said Governor Abbott. “With more than 3.5 million small businesses across Texas, employing nearly half of all working Texans, our state continues to lead in job creation and business expansion. I invite all small business owners and entrepreneurs to attend this Governor’s Small Business Summit or one in their region. Together, we will ensure that our small business community continues to thrive as we build a stronger, more prosperous Texas.”

The event in Big Lake will be held at the Reagan County Community Building from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It will feature panel sessions on topics such as entrepreneurship, leveraging state and local programs for growth, and strategies for recruiting and retaining employees in the current economic climate. Joe Esparza, Commissioner Representing Employers at the Texas Workforce Commission, is scheduled as a featured speaker.

Attendees can network with other business owners and meet experts who will offer advice on various small business topics. Registration costs $20 and includes session access, resource providers, lunch, and complimentary headshots. More details and registration information are available at gov.texas.gov/events.

Other upcoming summit locations include Eagle Pass on September 11; Carthage on September 25; Dalhart on October 9; Denton (with a focus on women) on October 23; and Belton (with a focus on veterans) on November 13.

The Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office along with the Office of Small Business Assistance also provide online webinars covering resources for small businesses across Texas. On-demand recordings of these webinars can be accessed at gov.texas.gov/business/page/small-business-webinars.
