Governor Abbott distributes relief funds from benefit concert to Hill Country flood victims

On Saturday, Governor Greg Abbott participated in an event in Ingram where he and the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund presented $25,000 checks to more than 60 families affected by the recent Hill Country floods. The financial support is intended to help those who experienced significant storm damage or lost their homes during the flooding.

"This is a down payment to help you begin to put your lives back together," said Governor Abbott. "Our goal is to put you on a strong, immediate beginning to make sure you can get back to having a permanent roof over your head."

The funds distributed at the event were raised during last month’s “Strait to the Heart” benefit concert. Governor Abbott had encouraged attendees at that event to assist fellow Texans impacted by the disaster. The concert was hosted by musician George Strait and Estancia Estates Founder Tom Cusick, raising over $6 million for flood relief efforts.

The check presentation drew coverage from several news outlets, including reports from Breitbart, Dallas Morning News, Hill Country Community Journal, Kerr County Lead, Kerrville Daily Times, KENS5, KSAT, KXAN, and WOAI.
