Governor Greg Abbott announced that the federal government has expanded President Donald J. Trump’s Major Disaster Declaration to include five additional counties in Texas following severe flooding. The counties added are Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green. These areas are now eligible for assistance under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance program.

“President Trump’s approval of my request to add more counties to his disaster declaration is another critical step to get Texans the support they need to recover,” said Governor Abbott. “Burnet, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, and Tom Green counties are now eligible for crucial public assistance to rebuild. I thank President Trump for swiftly approving my request to approve these additional counties. Texas continues to work around-the-clock to help every impacted community heal and rebuild.”

With this update, the list of counties approved for FEMA's Public Assistance program includes Burnet, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, and Tom Green. This program provides aid for emergency work and repairs or replacement of facilities damaged by disasters.

Texans in Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson remain eligible for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program. Applications can be submitted online at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.

Governor Abbott is actively working with local officials on flood response efforts. Actions taken include requesting additions to the Presidential Disaster Declaration and visiting affected areas with President Trump in Kerrville. Other measures involve launching a new emotional support line specific to flooding issues and announcing disaster unemployment assistance.

The state has increased its readiness level at the State Operations Center as parts of West and Central Texas face heavy rainfall threats.
