Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott joined President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in Kerr County to meet with Texas families and first responders after severe flooding impacted communities across Texas. The visit included a stop at the Wall of Hope in downtown Kerrville.
"Part of our bloodstream is that we are Texas tough," said Governor Abbott. "We are one team united. Fighting as Texans, we are going to rebuild not just in Kerrville, Hunt, or Kerr County, but across the entire state."
President Trump stated, "The First Lady and I are here in Texas to express the love, support, and anguish of the entire nation. My Administration is going to do everything in its power who help the affected communities."
The visit began with Governor Abbott greeting President Trump on the tarmac at Kerrville Aviation. They then met with first responders and local officials at Louise Hays Park for updates on ongoing search and rescue efforts.
A roundtable was held at Hill Country Youth Event Center with federal, state, local officials, and impacted Texans from Kerrville. During this session, both leaders expressed condolences for those affected by the flooding. Governor Abbott thanked President Trump for his quick response in sending resources to affected areas.
Among those present were U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, Congressman Chip Roy among others.
Afterward, Governor Abbott and President Trump thanked first responders for their service during recovery efforts before visiting the Wall of Hope to honor victims.
