Congressman Troy E. Nehls from Texas's 22nd district announced his affirmative vote on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill now advances to President Trump's desk for consideration.
Nehls expressed his support by stating, “I just voted ‘YES’ to send the One, Big, Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk.” He described the legislation as fulfilling promises made during President Trump's campaign.
According to Nehls, the bill aims to prioritize American citizens by preventing a significant tax increase through making President Trump’s Tax Cuts permanent. It also seeks to eliminate taxes on tips and overtime while offering tax relief for seniors.
The legislation allocates resources for President Trump's immigration policies, including mass deportation operations and completing the border wall. It intends to empower immigration authorities with necessary tools for maintaining community safety.
Furthermore, Nehls highlighted that the bill strengthens Medicaid by addressing issues of waste, fraud, and abuse. As Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, he emphasized the allocation of over $12 billion for modernizing America's air traffic control system.
Nehls also mentioned that the bill counters what he termed "Biden’s war on American energy" and aims to restore energy independence in the United States.
He concluded by stating that House Republicans are committed to delivering on President Trump's America First agenda. “This bill puts more money in Americans’ pockets, permanently secures our borders, unleashes American energy dominance, and catapults America into a new Golden Age,” said Nehls.
