Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Gary Young as the new judge of the 62nd Judicial District Court. This court serves Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, and Lamar Counties. Young's term will last until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Young currently holds the position of Lamar County & District Attorney. His previous experience includes roles as assistant district attorney in both Harris and Collin County District Attorney’s Offices. He maintains active memberships with the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District County Attorney’s Association.

In addition to his legal career, Young contributes to his community through various organizations. He serves as the capital campaign chair for the Boys and Girls Club of Red River Valley and has previously held leadership roles with several other local groups such as the Rotary Club of Paris and Paris Education Foundation.

Young completed his undergraduate studies in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing at The University of Texas at Austin. He then earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
