Today, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz participated in a House Agriculture Committee hearing with U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. The discussion centered on Texas water deliveries and agricultural challenges.

During the session, De La Cruz expressed her gratitude to Secretary Rollins for ensuring water deliveries under the 1944 Water Treaty and allocating $280 million to support South Texas farmers and ranchers. Secretary Rollins affirmed her commitment to include the treaty in USMCA negotiations as a long-term solution to Texas's water issues, an approach suggested by De La Cruz.

Additionally, De La Cruz addressed her legislative efforts regarding the New World Screwworm Preparedness Act. She emphasized the importance of preparing Texas agriculture against this parasite threat moving north from Mexico. She proposed establishing a facility at Moore Air Base in Hidalgo County to combat this issue.
