Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz's HUD Transparency Act has successfully passed through the House Financial Services Committee with strong bipartisan support. The legislation aims to enhance accountability within the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The bill requires the Inspector General at HUD to provide annual testimony before Congress, focusing on efforts to identify and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse. This measure seeks to ensure responsible use of the department's budget.

"The Financial Services Committee took an important step toward ensuring government is always held accountable to all Americans," stated Congresswoman De La Cruz. "Through passage of the HUD Transparency Act, we will require the HUD IG to testify annually on the responsible uses of their budget. Improving accountability and protecting American taxpayer dollars will always be a top priority. Next stop: the House floor!"

The legislation now awaits consideration by the full House.
