Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX), Chairman of the Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, has reintroduced the Veterans Claims Quality Improvement Act. The legislation aims to ensure veterans and their families receive support and hold the Department of Veterans Affairs accountable for providing fair and accurate decisions on benefit claims.
"I am proud to reintroduce the Veterans Claims Quality Improvement Act. This legislation ensures that veterans and their families receive the support they have earned and holds the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) accountable by ensuring veterans receive fair and accurate decisions on their benefit claims," said Congressman Luttrell. "It is crucial our veterans get the help they deserve, and I will continue to fight for those who served our nation in Congress."
The bill proposes several measures, including requiring the VA to create systems that assist claims processors in learning from avoidable deferrals. It also mandates that the Veterans Board of Appeals incorporate these learnings into their training programs. Additionally, it authorizes annual performance evaluations for Board judges and requires the VA to develop a plan to decrease unnecessary remands.
