Governor Greg Abbott extended his congratulations to the City of Grapevine for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This designation was awarded by Travel Texas after Grapevine completed a comprehensive certification process. The accolade highlights the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau's dedication to utilizing tourism as a means for economic growth, job creation, and attracting visitors both nationally and internationally.
Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of tourism, stating, “Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies.” He noted that travel within Texas generates nearly $200 billion annually and supports 1.3 million jobs statewide. Abbott encouraged other communities in Texas to pursue this certification to enhance local tourism and employment opportunities.
Tim Fennell, Director of Travel Texas, praised Grapevine’s diverse attractions including year-round events and unique experiences like the Grapevine Vintage Railroad and wine tasting rooms. “Being named a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community is a reflection of that dedication,” Fennell said.
Senator Tan Parker recognized Grapevine's leadership in tourism excellence, attributing their success to the community’s vision and hospitality. Representative Giovanni Capriglione echoed these sentiments, commending the efforts made by local leaders and residents.
Paul W. McCallum, Executive Director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, expressed pride in receiving the recognition, which he believes affirms their commitment to welcoming visitors with memorable experiences. Councilman Leon Leal also highlighted how city residents and businesses collaborate to make visitors feel at home.
Joe Szymaszek, General Manager of Grapevine Mills and Chair of the Grapevine CVB Board of Directors, pointed out that this designation underscores the collective effort of various community members in providing exceptional visitor experiences annually.
