Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Fate has achieved the designation of a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community, following the completion of a multi-step certification process. This program, initiated by the Texas Music Office (TMO) in 2016, aims to promote economic development and job creation related to music in Texas cities.

Governor Abbott remarked, “Congratulations to the City of Fate on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation.” He emphasized music's importance to Texas' cultural traditions and economic growth. The Texas music industry supports 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31 billion annually in economic activity.

Senator Bob Hall also congratulated Fate on this achievement. He stated, “This recognition is a testament to Fate’s commitment to fostering creativity, supporting local businesses, and enhancing quality of life through the arts.” Representative Katrina Pierson echoed these sentiments: “Music plays a vital role in creating connection, and this recognition reflects your commitment to supporting local culture and community.”

Mayor Andrew Greenberg expressed his support for the city's new status: “Music is a unifying force that brings people together... This designation reflects our city’s heart and our commitment to fostering a vibrant, artistic, and welcoming environment for everyone.”

City of Fate Economic Development Director Matt Wavering highlighted how live music boosts local business: “Live music creates energy... Supporting our musicians and venues is an investment in a thriving local economy.” Laura Smith, owner of Mamarita's restaurant, noted that having The Fate Food Haul as a live music venue has significantly benefited downtown Fate.

The certification ceremony will be cohosted by TMO and held during Fate’s City Council meeting on June 16. Gini Mascorro from TMO will present the designation.

Fate becomes the 84th city certified under this program. Since its inception in 1990, TMO has been integral in promoting Texas' music industry at state level.
