Governor Greg Abbott marked the conclusion of the 89th Legislative Session by celebrating a series of conservative legislative achievements. These measures align with commitments made during his 2025 State of the State Address.

"Working with Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, and leaders in the Texas Legislature, we delivered historic conservative legislation that will benefit Texans for generations to come," said Governor Abbott. "I look forward to signing these bills into law to make Texas stronger, safer, and more prosperous than ever in the history of our great state."

The legislative session saw advancements across several areas:

In education, a significant school choice program was launched, alongside a record $8.5 billion investment in public education. Teachers and staff are set to receive $4 billion in pay raises. Career training education was expanded with an additional $153 million allocated for students entering well-paying jobs directly after schooling. The Parent's Bill of Rights was passed to give parents more control over their children's education.

Public safety measures included tougher bail conditions for violent criminals and a prohibition on parole for human traffickers targeting children and people with disabilities. Border security received over $3.35 billion in investments. Additionally, counties with jails are now required to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Economic initiatives featured a $20 billion investment in water infrastructure and the creation of the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office aimed at leading nuclear energy development. Property tax relief efforts introduced $10 billion in new funding, increased homestead exemptions, and reduced business personal property taxes.

These legislative actions reflect Governor Abbott's priorities to enhance educational opportunities, strengthen public safety, boost economic growth, and provide property tax relief across Texas.
