Congressman Troy E. Nehls of Texas has voiced his support for H.R. 1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which he claims aligns with President Donald J. Trump's America First agenda. In an op-ed published in The Bay City Tribune, Nehls detailed his reasons for voting "YES" on the bill.

According to Nehls, the legislation is set to achieve significant fiscal and policy goals: "This bill delivers the largest deficit reduction in nearly 30 years, with $1.6 trillion in mandatory savings." He emphasized that despite criticisms from some media outlets, the bill would not cut essential services like Medicaid but would instead focus on eliminating waste and fraud within the program.

The bill also addresses issues related to immigration and border security by providing funds for mass deportations and constructing various barriers along U.S. borders. Nehls stated: "Our bill delivers on President Trump’s promise of mass deportations by funding at least one million annual removals of illegal aliens."

On tax reforms, Nehls noted that Americans could expect substantial relief: "This bill delivers the largest tax cut in American history by extending President Trump’s Tax Cuts." The legislation includes measures such as No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime.

Additionally, investments are planned for modernizing air traffic control systems and enhancing energy production capabilities domestically. Nehls explained these moves are intended to secure jobs and make energy more affordable.

Nehls concluded his piece affirming ongoing efforts to reverse policies from previous administrations: "I remain steadfast in my work to undo the damage done by the past administration."
