This action was taken under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code due to the ongoing and imminent threat posed by individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border. The renewal affects several counties in Texas and all state agencies impacted by this situation.

The original proclamation has been amended multiple times to adjust the list of affected counties and reaffirm the state of disaster for those areas. Governor Abbott stated that "the certified conditions continue to exist and pose an ongoing and imminent threat of disaster as set forth in the prior proclamations."

In accordance with his authority, Governor Abbott declared a disaster for numerous counties including Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Brewster, Brooks, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Coleman, Colorado, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, El Paso, Frio, Galveston, Goliad, Gonzales, Hidalgo among others. All previous orders and authorizations from the initial proclamation remain effective.

As required by law, copies of this renewed proclamation will be filed with relevant authorities.

The document was signed by Governor Abbott in Austin on May 21st and attested by Secretary of State Jane Nelson.
