Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas leads the nation in job creation, adding more new jobs last month and over the past year than any other state. Since Governor Abbott took office in January 2015, Texas has added over 2.5 million jobs.

"Texas is the No. 1 state in the nation for job creation because Texas moves at the speed of business," said Governor Abbott. "That is why Texas employers have added more than 2.5 million jobs since I’ve been Governor. That’s also why Texas continues to attract more corporate relocations and business expansions than any other state."

Abbott highlighted recent legislative efforts to maintain this growth trajectory, including new pro-growth business legislation designed to provide certainty for business decision-makers and build on progress made with specialty business courts.

According to April employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

- Texas added 37,700 nonfarm jobs in April.

- From April 2024 to April 2025, Texas added 215,500 nonfarm jobs.

- Since January 2015, under Governor Abbott's leadership, Texas gained a total of 2,515,200 nonfarm jobs.

Governor Abbott also celebrated record-setting figures for total jobs, the number of Texans employed, and the size of the state's labor force based on recent data from the Texas Workforce Commission. Last week saw further legislative action with three new laws aimed at enhancing Texas' capital market environment and reinforcing its status as a leading state for business.
