Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Sir Professor Mallory Factor to the Governor’s University Research Initiative (GURI). The appointment is for a term that will last at the governor's discretion. GURI assists the Office of the Governor by reviewing and evaluating grant proposal applications, recommending approval or disapproval.

Sir Professor Mallory Factor, based in Austin, holds positions as Chairman, President, and CEO of IntraBio Inc. He serves as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Oxford. Previously, he was the John C. West Professor at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. His career spans public and private sectors with roles in biotechnology, technology, and manufacturing investment and advisory.

Factor is affiliated with several prestigious organizations; he is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a fellow of Historic Royal Palaces. He has served as a senior advisor in both the U.S. Senate and UK House of Lords. Additionally, his past roles include being on the Board of Governors of the New York State Banking Department and chairman of The New York Public Asset Fund.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Wesleyan University and studied in Columbia University's joint Business and Law Program.
