Governor Greg Abbott has announced the designation of May 12-16, 2025, as Economic Development Week in Texas. This proclamation acknowledges the essential role played by economic development organizations at various levels in bolstering the state's economy, generating job opportunities, and improving Texans' quality of life.
“Texas is where the future is building — where opportunity is abundant, where free enterprise flourishes, and where families and jobs grow,” stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized that "the key to Texas’ unrivaled success in economic development is teamwork," highlighting the importance of collaboration among organizations statewide to attract new businesses and investments while supporting existing companies.
The announcement follows Texas being named the Best State for Business for the 21st consecutive year by Chief Executive magazine. The state was also awarded the 2025 Prosperity Cup by Site Selection magazine for its top performance in attracting new business investments. These accolades have earned Texas what Governor Abbott refers to as the “Triple Crown Trophy” for having the best economy nationwide.
Governor Abbott also unveiled a five-year strategic plan aimed at furthering economic growth and job creation across Texas. This plan serves as a blueprint for continued expansion within the state.
The Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office (EDT) plays a pivotal role in marketing Texas both nationally and internationally as a prime location for business and tourism. EDT collaborates with local communities, regional bodies, and other state agencies to maintain Texas's status as an attractive place to live, work, and visit.
