Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz has announced the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Texas's 15th District. Alina Ozuna from Edinburg North High School took first place with her artwork titled "In America, We Believe." Her piece was chosen from a pool of 55 entries submitted by high school students throughout the district.

As the winner, Alina's artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside other winning pieces from across the nation.

"I am thrilled to congratulate Alina on this incredible achievement. Her work beautifully captures the ideas of the American Dream, and it will be an inspiring addition to the halls of the nation's Capitol for all to enjoy. I am proud of all the students who participated, and I hope you all continue to share your passion for creativity," said Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz.

Second place was awarded to Briana Olvera from Edinburg High School for her piece titled "I Thank the Women in My Life for Giving Me a Choice." Cassandra Pedraza from Edinburg North High School received third place for her work "Hard Work, Tender Care."

The Congressional Institute sponsors this annual competition each spring to recognize and encourage artistic talent among high school students nationwide. Since its inception in 1982, more than 650,000 students have participated.

This year's entries were evaluated by a panel comprising local educators from UTRGV's School of Art and Design: Director Ed Pogue and Art Instructors Rosie Kane and Ashley Gonzalez.
