Governor Greg Abbott has acknowledged the Town of Little Elm and the City of Lubbock for achieving a significant milestone. These communities have become the first in Texas to receive all four "Friendly Texas" certifications: Film Friendly Texas, Music Friendly Texas, Tourism Friendly Texas, and Digital Media Friendly Texas Certified Community.

Governor Abbott stated, “Congratulations to Little Elm and Lubbock on becoming the first communities to earn all four ‘Friendly Texas’ certified community designations for film, music, tourism, and digital media.” He emphasized that these industries are vital to the state's economy and encouraged other communities to utilize the opportunities provided by these certification programs.

The certifications are administered by several state offices including the Texas Film Commission and Travel Texas within the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office. They aim to support local job creation and economic growth by fostering development in various sectors.

Little Elm recently became a Digital Media Friendly community after earning previous designations for tourism, film, and music over recent months. Senator Tan Parker praised this accomplishment as reflective of community spirit and leadership. Representative Richard Hayes highlighted it as evidence of Little Elm's commitment to economic development.

Mayor Curtis Cornelious expressed pride in showcasing local talent through these achievements. He remarked that while these certifications mark a milestone, they also serve as a foundation for future growth.

Similarly, Lubbock was recognized as a Tourism Friendly community following its earlier achievements in music, film, and digital media designations. Speaker Dustin Burrows noted that this recognition highlights Lubbock's ability to attract diverse industries. Senator Charles Perry celebrated Lubbock's culture of creativity and innovation as key factors in its success.

Representative Carl Tepper emphasized Lubbock's role in promoting West Texas culture globally. Mayor Mark McBrayer echoed sentiments of pride in receiving all four certifications and hinted at future aspirations if more opportunities arise.

The Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office is responsible for promoting Texas as a leading business location and travel destination both nationally and internationally.
