Governor Abbott began by commending Texas law enforcement for their collaboration with the Trump Administration in addressing illegal immigration, human and drug smuggling, and crime. Governor Campos highlighted shared values between Texas and Chihuahua, emphasizing public safety and strong border security measures to curb illegal immigration. Abbott noted the success of Trump's border policies, claiming a 99.99% decrease in border crossings since January.
The discussion also covered cross-border trade, acknowledging Mexico as Texas' largest trading partner. The Governors explored possibilities for cooperation in enhancing investment in sectors such as semiconductor and technology manufacturing.
