Governor Abbott appoints three members to Trinity River Authority Board

Governor Greg Abbott has made new appointments to the Trinity River Authority Board of Directors. Richard “Carson” Dennis and Elizabeth Thomas were appointed for terms ending on March 15, 2029, and March 15, 2027, respectively. Additionally, Jerry House, D.Min., was reappointed for a term set to expire on March 15, 2029. The Trinity River Authority is tasked with the development and conservation of the surface water resources in the Trinity River Basin.

Richard “Carson” Dennis, based in Dallas, is currently an investment manager at Granite Properties, Inc. His community involvement includes participation with Trinity Christian Academy and Park Cities Baptist Church. Dennis graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.

Elizabeth Thomas, from Fort Worth, works as an attorney and partner at Kelly Hart and Hallman LLP. She is affiliated with several legal associations, including the Tarrant County Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, and the New York State Bar. She also contributes as an alumna interviewer for Dartmouth College. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Dartmouth College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.

Jerry House, D.Min., resides in Leona and owns Leona General Store and Steakhouse and the Pecan Grove Café. He has retired after 39 years in service as a United Methodist Minister and is involved with multiple associations such as the Texas Restaurant Association and the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. House is an alumnus of Southwestern University, Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology, and the McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago, holding various degrees including a Doctor in Ministry.

These appointees still require confirmation from the Senate.
