Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls announced his support for the recent budget reconciliation proposal of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Nehls cast a favorable vote on the proposal, stating, “The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee did its part to deliver on President Trump’s agenda.”

The proposal includes over $12 billion dedicated to staffing and modernization of air traffic control systems. Nehls emphasized the necessity of this funding by noting, “Our ATC system is antiquated. The need to modernize this system is urgent, and we can’t delay taking action.” He explained these funds are key for the Trump Administration to adopt new technologies aiming to enhance the safety and efficiency of air travel.

In addition to air traffic control improvements, the proposal seeks to bolster the United States Coast Guard. Nehls called these investments historical and part of President Trump’s America First agenda. He highlighted the Coast Guard's role in preventing illegal immigration, asserting national sovereignty in the Arctic, and maintaining national security.

The proposal also aims to address government spending by rescinding funds associated with the Inflation Reduction Act. It includes measures to ensure that electric vehicle users contribute to highway maintenance costs.

Nehls praised Committee Chairman Graves for his leadership, looking forward to future collaborations with him and the Trump Administration. “I commend Chairman Graves for his leadership throughout this process, and I look forward to working with him and the Trump Administration to make our transportation system great again,” he stated.
