Congressman Wesley Hunt has announced that he will serve as a Co-Chair of the Congressional Sneaker Caucus for the 119th Congress. In association with this role, Hunt has designated May 21st as Sneaker Day on Capitol Hill. The initiative is intended to build relationships and encourage collaboration between Members of Congress and staff across party lines.

The Sneaker Caucus is collaborating with Soles 4 Souls, a recognized non-profit organization, to conduct a Shoe Drive on Capitol Hill. The aim is to donate 50 pairs of sneakers to Americans in need. Congressman Hunt expressed that his involvement in the Caucus aligns with his personal interests and desire to see bipartisan cooperation. He stated, "I am incredibly excited to serve as a co-chair of the Sneaker Caucus." Citing his upbringing during the era of basketball great Michael Jordan, Hunt emphasized the cultural significance of sneakers, saying, "Sneakers have become more than just footwear; they symbolize passion, history, and community."

Congressman Hunt plans to contribute one of his favorite pairs of Air Jordans to the effort and expressed enthusiasm about seeing the sneaker choices of his colleagues on May 21st.

Additionally, the Sneaker Caucus Co-Chair stated, "I am thrilled to be putting my best foot forward with my new co-chair, Rep. Hunt, as we re-introduce the Congressional Sneaker Caucus for the 119th Congress." She highlighted the vital role sneakers play in American culture, economy, and fitness. She added that fostering conversations over shared interests could help reduce partisanship, stating, "I look forward to my colleagues and their staff joining us as we work together to restore the sole of Congress."
