Governor Abbott appoints members and chair to Lower Colorado River Authority board

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Curtis Ford, Aden Lasseter, and Mark Mayo, and reappointed Robert “Bobby” Lewis and Margaret “Meg” Voelter to the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) for terms expiring on February 1, 2031. Additionally, Stephen F. “Steve” Cooper has been named chair of the board, with his term lasting at the discretion of the Governor. The LCRA is responsible for delivering electricity, managing the water supply and environment, providing public recreation areas, and supporting community and economic development in the Lower Colorado River Basin.

Curtis Ford from Austin is the founder and CEO of Media Choice, LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from West Texas A&M University. Ford is also a board member of The Salvation Army.

Aden Lasseter, owner of Lasseter Properties and Wildlife, is also a majority owner of Inner Space Cavern and co-owner of Caveman Wildlife. A resident of Round Mountain, Lasseter holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baylor University.

Mark Mayo, retired City Manager for Luling and New Boston, served in various community roles. He is a resident of Luling and holds a degree in Applied Science from Ranger College.

Robert “Bobby” Lewis, former president of Elgin Veterinary Hospital, Inc., is a veterinary professional with affiliations to several associations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Margaret “Meg” Voelter, an active volunteer from Austin, has served in several legal and educational capacities. Voelter is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Baylor University School of Law.

Stephen F. “Steve” Cooper is from El Campo and is involved in multiple agricultural investments. He has ties to various councils and associations related to Texas A&M University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics.

The appointments will undergo Senate confirmation as required.
