Governor Greg Abbott has revealed that Brenham has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission. This comes after the city successfully completed the comprehensive training and certification process.

"Congratulations to Brenham on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition," stated Governor Abbott. He added that the Film Friendly Texas program equips communities to link local businesses with production needs, thereby creating jobs for Texas-based crew and residents and boosting local business activities. Abbott expressed gratitude to the Texas Film Commission for assisting communities like Brenham in marketing their unique appeal and supporting job creation through media production.

Senator Lois Kolkhorst also weighed in, saying, "Congratulations to Brenham for being designated as a Film Friendly Texas Community by the Texas Film Commission. This achievement is yet another reason the Brenham area is an attractive and thriving center for a wide variety of economic growth."

Mayor Atwood Kenjura shared, “Brenham is proud to be recognized as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community. This certification shines a spotlight on our city’s charm, history, and welcoming spirit. We’re excited to open our doors to filmmakers and share the unique beauty and character of Brenham with audiences far and wide."

Brenham now joins over 175 other communities in Texas that receive continuous training and advice from the Texas Film Commission on media industry norms and how to facilitate on-location filming.

Since its inception, the Texas Film Commission has promoted Texas as a leading destination for film and other media productions, attracting over $2.5 billion in local spending and creating more than 189,000 production jobs across the state from 2007 to 2024.
