Governor Greg Abbott has made several appointments to the Nueces River Authority, with four new members and two reappointments. Olen “Feller” Hughs, Daniel “Danny” Kelley, and Daniel Suckley have been appointed, while Jane Bell and Lisa Greenberg have been reappointed. Their terms are set to expire on February 1, 2031. Additionally, Shannon Freund will join the Authority, with her term ending on February 1, 2027.
The Nueces River Authority is responsible for managing and conserving the Nueces River Basin's water resources. This includes overseeing forestation, groundwater, stormwater floodwater, water quality control, solid waste, and managing parks and recreation facilities.
Olen “Feller” Hughs from Barksdale is retired and has held previous leadership roles in agricultural organizations. Daniel “Danny” Kelley from Karnes City also retired and has experience as an engineer. Daniel Suckley from Corpus Christi currently works in banking and has been involved with multiple foundations and associations.
Jane Bell from Corpus Christi has a background in health and education. Lisa Greenberg, also from Corpus Christi, practices law and has been active in several legal associations in the region. Shannon Freund from Beeville works as a customer development manager and participates in various community service organizations.
Governor Abbott's appointments are pending confirmation by the Senate.
