Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has amended and renewed a disaster proclamation initially issued on July 8, 2022. This action acknowledges the ongoing exceptional drought conditions affecting several counties within the state. The Texas Division of Emergency Management confirmed the persistence of these conditions, prompting the governor to extend the disaster status.

The renewed proclamation declares a disaster in numerous Texas counties including Aransas, Atascosa, Bandera, and Bexar, among others. In response, Governor Abbott has authorized the utilization of all applicable state resources and political subdivisions deemed necessary to manage the disaster situation, in line with Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code.

Governor Abbott has also enacted measures to suspend regulations that may hinder effective disaster response. According to Section 418.016 of the Texas Government Code, any state regulation that could delay the necessary response actions will be suspended, pending the Governor's office approval, to ensure the protection of life and property during this critical period.

Governor Abbott's proclamation mandates that copies of this declaration be filed with the relevant authorities. The declaration was signed and officially sealed in Austin, Texas, on April 22, 2025.
