Governor Greg Abbott has announced that the City of Paris has been awarded the Film Friendly Texas Certified Community designation by the Texas Film Commission. This recognition comes after the city completed a comprehensive training and certification process.
"Congratulations to the City of Paris on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition," said Governor Abbott. He highlighted that the designation prepares communities to connect local businesses with the media industry, fostering job creation and local spending.
State Representative Gary VanDeaver expressed pride over Paris's recognition, noting the town’s unique character and appeal to filmmakers.
Mayor Mihir Pankaj stated, "The City of Paris is the perfect community for filming at any of our iconic landmarks," which include its historic downtown and a unique Eiffel Tower with a red cowboy hat.
City Manager Rose Beverly acknowledged the milestone, stating, "This designation reflects our community’s welcoming spirit and commitment to supporting the creative industries."
Paris joins over 175 other Texas communities certified as Film Friendly by receiving ongoing media industry training from the Texas Film Commission. These efforts over 50 years have significantly boosted local jobs and economies, with the Texas Film Commission contributing to over $2.5 billion in local spending and 189,000 production jobs statewide from 2007 to 2024.
