Governor Greg Abbott praised the Texas House of Representatives for passing Senate Bill 2, Texas's universal school choice program. This marks a historical moment as it is the first time a universal school choice bill has been passed by both chambers in the Texas Legislature.

"This is an extraordinary victory for the thousands of parents who have advocated for more choices when it comes to the education of their children," Abbott stated. He expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Speaker Dustin Burrows, Chairman Brandon Creighton, and Chairman Brad Buckley for their efforts in advancing the bill. Abbott commended the legislators for standing with Texans who support school choice.

Abbott indicated his intent to sign the bill into law, which he referred to as the nation's largest day-one school choice program, aiming to establish Texas as a leading state for education.
