Governor Abbott appoints new members to Texas Southern University board

Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents, selecting Ben Proler and Alithea Z. Sullivan, and reappointing Lauren Gore. Their terms will expire on February 1, 2031.

Ben Proler from Houston is currently working as a commercial manager for Shell plc. He serves as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve and is involved with the American Jewish Committee and the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations. Proler holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and has completed Joint Professional Military Education from the Naval War College. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Rice University.

Alithea Z. Sullivan, an attorney and partner at Stone Hilton PLLC in Austin, is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the District of Columbia Bar. Sullivan's previous roles include serving as a forum editor of the Harvard Law Review. She studied Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University and obtained a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. She also completed fellowship coursework at Humboldt Universität in Berlin.

Lauren Gore, based in Houston, co-founded LDR Partners LP. He holds a vice chairmanship at Combined Arms and is secretary of the board for KIPP Texas Public Schools. Gore's past roles include being part of the Texas Workforce Investment Council and working as an attorney with Baker Botts LLP. His military service includes a stint as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army with deployment to Iraq, ending with an honorable discharge in 2012. Gore attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and Harvard Law School for a Juris Doctor degree.
