Governor Greg Abbott has made a new appointment and three reappointments to the Texas Diabetes Council, tasked with advising on diabetes-related legislative needs and education in Texas. K. Renee’ Yarbrough-Yale, D.N.P., takes a new seat, while Dirrell Jones, Michael Kelly, Ph.D., and Jason Ryan continue in their roles. Their terms will conclude on February 1, 2031.
K. Renee’ Yarbrough-Yale hails from North Richland Hills and works as the Inpatient Diabetes Program Coordinator for JPS Health Network in Fort Worth. She is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists.
Dirrell Jones resides in Farmers Branch and is a senior trial attorney for Redeem Trial Attorneys. His professional affiliations include the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Bar Association.
Michael Kelly from El Paso serves as vice president of programs for the Paso del Norte Health Foundation. He participates in various organizations, including the American Diabetes Association and Philanthropy Southwest.
Jason Ryan, based in Houston, holds the position of executive vice president at CenterPoint Energy. He is involved with the American Gas Association’s Legal Committee and serves on other boards.
The Senate confirmation is the next required step for these appointments to proceed.
