Governor Greg Abbott has made new appointments to the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Shellie Gardner has been appointed, while Michael P. Henry, D.C., and Scott Wofford, D.C. have been reappointed, with their terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. The board is responsible for regulating chiropractic practices within Texas.
Shellie Gardner, based in Fort Worth, is the founder and owner of Christmas Light Source. Her community involvement includes participation in the Fort Worth art scene and efforts related to solar cooking and sustainability in Ethiopia. She is also involved in supporting transitional communities in Seattle. Gardner holds memberships with Rotary International and champions local and global causes. Her academic background features a Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University, and she is currently pursuing a Master of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Michael P. Henry from Austin is a practicing chiropractor and serves as the CEO of TexStar Chiropractic. He has been recognized by the Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) as "Young Chiropractor of the Year" in 2017 and "Alumnus of the Year" by Parker University in 2022. Henry's professional affiliations include TCA and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). He completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at Austin and holds a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University in Dallas.
Scott Wofford of Abilene owns the West Texas Back Clinic. His achievements include roles as past state director and president of TCA. He has received various accolades, including "Young Chiropractor of the Year" in 2002 from the TCA, "D.C. of the Year" and the "Keeler Plaque" from Parker University and TCA in 2020. Wofford's educational credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New York and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Parker University in Dallas.
The Texas Senate must confirm these appointments.
