Governor Greg Abbott has extended his congratulations to the City of Brenham for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This new designation, awarded by Travel Texas during the program's inaugural year, signifies Brenham's commitment to enhancing tourism as a strategy for economic growth, job creation, and attracting visitors both nationally and internationally.
"Tourism is critical to our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas," said Governor Abbott. Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell described Brenham as a "must-visit destination" due to its scenic beauty, historic landmarks, and thriving cultural scene. Each spring, Brenham's landscapes are adorned with bluebonnets, while other attractions include boutique shopping, Blue Bell Creameries tours, and visits to local wineries and breweries.
Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst commended Brenham, highlighting its convenient location between Houston and Austin. She pointed out Brenham's rich array of attractions, including historical sites, boutiques, festivals, and culinary offerings. Kolkhorst expressed pride in Brenham’s tourism efforts, acknowledging its positive impact on local businesses and the economy.
